3D Max

My 3D town

The students first time using 3D Max, they were asked to create a scene with the 3D shapes provided in the program. Once the scene was finished the student used the light source tool and rendered the image at a appealing angle.

Artist's Note: I really like my town. Theme; future (?) will be full of floating rings and spheres.

Silouette: Adobe Illustrator to 3D Max

The students created an image with plain shapes (circles, squares) in Adobe Illustrator. The image was then imported into 3D Max where the students learned to make the 2D shapes into 3D shapes. The students then used the move tool to pull out and rearrange the 3D shapes into the proper places. Adding their own touch the students played with the color change and move the camera into a view. No light source was added. The image was then rendered.

Artist's Note: We didn't learn how to make the 3D shapes smooth so the shape looks like a cookie cutout. It's a pixie/faerie.

3D Town Effect

In this project the students were asked to create a town effect using 3D Max. The students saved images into their drive and imported the pictures into 3D Max. The students then placed the pictures onto the shapes to make the effect of a town.

Artist's Note: Places I uesd: Tokyo Tower, Zojoji Temple, Odaiba Wheel and the City of Tokyo. Billboard; Sasuke (Naruto)

3D Cropcircle

In this project, the students were told to find cropcircle shapes online and trace them in Adobe Illustrator. In Adobe Illustrator the students used the pen tool to trace the shapes. They also used the pathfinder to donut-hole the shape and make it a single object.

The shape was then imported into 3D Max where the students made a plane and a box. In the box they donut-holed shape to make the effect of a crop circle. Along with the shape, the students found pictures to bitmap on the 3D shapes. After the picture was aquired, the texture was created though bumpmapping.
